PKB West Java Produces Branch Leaders Through UKK, Involving Independent Psychometric Testing

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Board (DPW) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) continues to strengthen the quality of leadership at the regional level through the implementation of the Fitness and Propriety Test (UKK) for prospective branch leaders. This step is considered strategic to ensure that every figure set to lead at the district/city level has the capacity, integrity, and ideological commitment aligned with the party’s struggles.

Secretary of the Shura Council of DPW PKB West Java, Sidkon Djampi, emphasised that the UKK is not merely an organisational formality, but a serious, measurable, and quality-oriented selection process. According to him, PKB aims to produce branch leaders who are not only adept at managing party structures but also capable of addressing societal needs.

“This UKK serves as an important instrument to ensure that prospective branch leaders are comprehensively prepared, both intellectually, emotionally, and ideologically. They must understand PKB’s grand vision and be able to translate it into tangible work in the field,” said Sidkon on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

He added that the increasingly complex political dynamics demand the presence of adaptive, communicative figures with the ability to build solid organisational consolidation. Branch leaders are also expected to expand the support base and maintain closeness with grassroots communities.

In the implementation of the UKK, DPW PKB West Java incorporates psychometric testing as one of the assessment materials conducted by an independent institution. This step is taken to ensure the selection process runs objectively and professionally, while also delving deeper into the candidates’ personality aspects, emotional stability, and leadership potential.

In addition to psychometric testing, the assessment also covers track records, understanding of NU and PKB, managerial capabilities, and election-winning strategies. With such a comprehensive process, it is hoped that resilient, integrity-driven branch leaders will emerge, capable of strengthening the party further in West Java.

Sidkon emphasised that ongoing cadre development is the main key to the party’s strength. Through the UKK, PKB seeks to maintain cadre quality while ensuring the continuity of the organisation’s struggles down to the lowest levels.
