The National Awakening Party (PKB) is taking firm action by planning to summon a member of the Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency Regional House of Representatives, Norbetus Tubani. The summons relates to the alleged intimidation of Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, affectionately known as Doctor Icha, while she was on duty at Leona Kefamenanu Hospital in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Chairperson of the DPP Perempuan Bangsa and PKB cadre, Nihayatul Wafiroh, confirmed that the party will immediately conduct a tabayun, or clarification process, with the individual concerned. The alleged intimidation was reported to have occurred on 13 June 2026. “We will immediately summon the person concerned for tabayun. We will ensure that the individual receives disciplinary sanctions from the party if proven involved,” said Nihayatul in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (28/6). Nihayatul, who also serves as Deputy Chair of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, stressed that PKB does not tolerate acts of intimidation against health workers. According to her, such actions not only violate the ethics of public officials but also constitute a serious breach of party discipline. Based on information circulating on social media, the alleged intimidation began when Doctor Icha was treating a child patient who was a snakebite victim referred to Leona Kefamenanu Hospital. During the medical process, Doctor Icha allegedly received pressure and intimidation from Norbetus Tubani and Therensius Lazakar, who were relatives of the patient. The pressure allegedly triggered deep trauma for Doctor Icha, requiring her to undergo intensive care. Tragic news followed on 26 June 2026, when Doctor Icha was pronounced dead. In addition to the party’s internal measures, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has also given special attention to this case. The Head of the Ministry’s Communication and Public Information Bureau, Aji Muhawarman, stated that a thorough investigation is underway. The Ministry has deployed the Directorate General of Health Human Resources and the Inspectorate General to handle the case completely. The government emphasised that every health worker has the right to protection and a sense of security while carrying out humanitarian duties without pressure from any party.
