PKB Supports Jakarta Provincial Government's Plan to Issue Rp3.5 Trillion in Regional Bonds

The National Awakening Party (PKB) faction in the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) supports the Jakarta Provincial Government’s plan to issue regional bonds worth Rp3.5 trillion, targeted for realisation in 2027. The endorsement was conveyed by the Chairman of the PKB Faction, M. Fuadi Luthfi, after Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs had granted in-principle approval for the alternative financing scheme. Fuadi assessed that the proposed regional bond issuance is a reasonable and constitutional financing measure to ensure the continuity of infrastructure development in the capital. “We in the PKB Faction support the Governor’s move to issue these regional bonds. This is not a new concept; the central government has long used similar instruments. For us, the most important thing is ensuring the funds are genuinely used for the people’s interests,” Fuadi stated on Thursday. He appreciated Governor Pramono’s courage in seeking financing breakthroughs beyond the pure Regional Budget (APBD) to respond to the still-unstable fiscal conditions. This step is considered crucial so that priority urban planning programmes are not delayed due to budget constraints. “Amidst uncertain fiscal conditions, Mr Pramono has taken a bold step to seek alternative financing so that Jakarta’s development does not stall. This is the problem-solving leadership style we need,” he asserted. Furthermore, Fuadi emphasised that the PKB Faction’s support is based on the plan to allocate the bond funds to vital public sectors, such as the construction of regional public hospitals (RSUD), new school units, and the expansion of the LRT public transport route from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. He expressed hope that this financing would accelerate the improvement of the quality of life for the lower-middle class and expand access to education and healthcare in Jakarta.
