PKB Sumedang Holds Ramadhan Gathering, Offers Prayer for World Peace
The Regional Leadership Board (DPC) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in Sumedang District held a Ramadhan gathering with Islamic scholars and community leaders themed “Prayer for World Peace” at the Islamic Center Sumedang on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
The event, which ran from 16:00 until shortly before sunset, was attended by hundreds of PKB cadres and officials from various districts across Sumedang District. Several Islamic scholars and community figures also participated in the gathering, which was conducted with reverence and a spirit of togetherness.
Taufik Nurrohim, Chairman of the PKB Sumedang Regional Leadership Board, stated that this Ramadhan gathering is part of PKB’s spiritual and social tradition of giving meaning to the holy month as an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood and human solidarity.
“Ramadhan is the best time to strengthen family bonds, consolidate unity, and offer prayers for the safety of all people. In a world full of tension and conflict, we wish to offer prayers from Sumedang so that the world may find the path to peace,” said Taufik.
He assessed that the global geopolitical situation marked by conflict and tension, including that occurring in the Middle East region, serves as a reminder of the importance of bringing a message of peace from various elements of society.
According to him, conflicts between nations not only impact the regions directly involved but also have the potential to trigger humanitarian crises and global instability.
“When the world is filled with conflict and war, we must present a different message. Through this forum, we wish to convey that Indonesian Muslims stand upon the values of humanity, peace, and brotherhood between nations,” he said.
As a party born from the pesantren and ulama tradition, Taufik continued, PKB has a moral responsibility to continue upholding Islamic values of rahmatan lil ’alamin, which bring peace, compassion, and welfare to all people.
The gathering began with traditional hadrah music and Qur’anic recitations. Subsequently, participants received greetings and a message on nationalism from Maman Imanul Haq, a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PKB faction and also a member of the PKB Central Board’s Consultative Council.
On this occasion, Maman emphasised the importance of maintaining religious moderation and strengthening solidarity among believers in facing various global challenges.
The event also included a screening of a video titled “PKB Sumedang in Action,” which showcased various social activities and community services conducted by PKB cadres in Sumedang District.
The culmination of the programme featured a moral exhortation and prayer for world peace delivered by Muhyiddin Abdul Qodir Al-Manafi, a charismatic Islamic scholar from Sumedang and leader of the International Islamic Boarding School Asy-Syifa Wal Mahmuddiyah.
In his sermon, he urged Muslims to strengthen their prayers and spiritual endeavours so that the world would be spared from conflict and bloodshed, and so that the Indonesian nation would continue to be blessed with safety and unity.
The event was attended by approximately 600 participants consisting of officials from the PKB Sumedang Regional Leadership Board, officials from all PKB District-level Councils in Sumedang District, as well as Islamic scholars and community figures.
As sunset approached, the programme continued with the distribution of dates and light refreshments to participants and concluded with a communal breaking of the fast.
Through this event, PKB Sumedang hopes that Ramadhan becomes an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood amongst scholars, party cadres, and the community, whilst solidifying their collective commitment to safeguarding national unity and world peace.
