PKB Strengthens Ties with MCA
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Awakening Party (PKB) is strengthening its relations with one of Malaysia’s political parties, the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA).
The enhancement of inter-party relations between the two countries occurred after PKB received a visit from the MCA delegation in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“Welcome to the gentlemen and ladies from MCA at the PKB Central Executive Board office. We are very pleased and grateful for your presence to visit, get acquainted, and exchange greetings, so that we can get to know each other better and grow closer. May this meeting bring synergy, collaboration, and cooperation,” said PKB General Chairman Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar at the PKB Central Executive Board in Jakarta on Tuesday.
On that occasion, the man familiarly known as Cak Imin explained that PKB is a religious-based party in Indonesia that upholds openness and pluralism.
Therefore, he hopes that the relationship between PKB and MCA can continue to develop and provide benefits for both countries.
Moreover, he views Indonesia and Malaysia as having close relations, both geographically, culturally, and historically, which need to be developed productively.
“We consist of various backgrounds, including from the Chinese community. Our Deputy General Chairman, Rusdi Kirana, once served as Indonesia’s Ambassador to Malaysia and now holds the position of Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia. There is also Daniel Johan, who has been a member of the House of Representatives four times, as well as many other cadres in various fields,” he explained.
Meanwhile, MCA Vice President Lawrence Low hopes that the meeting will mark the beginning of broader cooperation between the two political parties.
“I hope this meeting can open up cooperation between the two parties. Not only in politics, but also in economy, trade, education, and other sectors,” said Lawrence.
He also explained that MCA is a party that has been established since 1949 and is currently part of the Barisan Nasional in Malaysia, with strong support from the Chinese community.
In the meeting, Cak Imin was accompanied by several PKB officials, including Ida Fauziyah, Faisol Riza, Muhammad Kadafi, Ais Shofiah Asfar, Nadya Alfi Raihana, Riezal Ilham Pratama, and Gielbran Muhammad Nur.
Additionally, several MCA leaders were present, including Dato’ Wong Tat Chee, Dato’ Lee Ban Seng, Tee Hooi Ling, and other officials.
The meeting is expected to be an initial step in strengthening bilateral relations through political channels and promoting concrete collaboration in various strategic sectors between Indonesia and Malaysia.
