PKB States No Deadlock Among Parties on Parliamentary Threshold
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - General Secretary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Hasanuddin Wahid, revealed that discussions on the parliamentary threshold (PT) within political parties are still dynamic. He also stated that discussions on the parliamentary threshold among political parties have not yet reached a deadlock. “So far, there has been no deadlock. We are actively communicating with all parties. Relatively, we can understand each other and then discuss further,” Hasanuddin said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026). The application of non-uniform thresholds between the centre and regions is seen as potentially causing confusion in the political system. “Don’t separate the national threshold from the regions. That would just create confusion,” Hasanuddin said. On the other hand, PKB stated that it has not set a specific figure for the parliamentary threshold. Hasanuddin emphasised that his party places more emphasis on the basis of reasoning in determining the PT size, not just the number. “Regarding the number, PKB is relatively flexible. But the measure is what I mentioned earlier. Whether it’s four, five, seven, or whatever, there must be reasoning built together,” Hasanuddin said. “Currently, we are still discussing it with the chairmen of political parties,” said Puan when met at the DPR RI Building, Thursday (16/4/2026). The discussion process is being carried out to ensure that future elections run better. “The most important thing is how in that process the election can run honestly, fairly, efficiently, and of course bring good benefits to the nation and state,” said Puan.
