PKB Responds to Post-Independence Day Reshuffle Rumours, Defers to President's Prerogative

The National Awakening Party (PKB) has responded to speculation about a cabinet reshuffle, stating that the decision on who fills ministerial posts is entirely the prerogative of the President. PKB’s Daniel Johan said the party fully entrusts the decision to President Prabowo Subianto, including the choice of background or party affiliation of the selected figures.

According to Daniel, signals from the palace indicate that the reshuffle will be limited in nature, merely filling currently vacant positions. However, he added that if there are changes to other positions, that too is the President’s authority. ‘We fully surrender the assessment and consideration of who and when to the President,’ he said.

Daniel expressed hope that the President would choose figures who truly understand their fields and that the voices and expectations of the public should be an important consideration for the government. He stressed that this view is merely input, and the final decision on the cabinet composition rests with the President.

Previously, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) executive Mardani Ali Sera also commented on the potential reshuffle after 17 August. While supporting the recruitment of new people, Mardani suggested the President should prioritise individuals with public recognition, capacity, and integrity. He noted there are many qualified professionals who are not from political parties, adding that bureaucratic reform is needed given the heavy tasks facing the President.
