PKB NTT Allows Cadre to Be Processed Over Doctor Icha's Death

The Regional Executive Board of the National Awakening Party (DPW PKB) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has spoken out regarding the alleged intimidation of Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Dr. Icha, which has implicated its cadre, Norbertus Bani, a member of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).

DPW PKB NTT Chairman Aloysius Malo Ladi stated that the party would not protect any cadre proven to have acted against the law. “I express my deepest condolences on the passing of the late Dr. Icha. We are still investigating and following all ongoing processes,” he said on Sunday (28/6/2026).

“It is clear that PKB will not protect a cadre who is in the wrong and damages the party’s image with behaviour that contradicts norms or regulations,” Aloysius continued. He added that if the allegations are proven, the party will prepare strict sanctions. “PKB is not playing around,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Golkar’s Regional Executive Board (DPD I) in NTT, Alain Nitti Susanto, has yet to provide a statement when contacted.

Police are still investigating the exact cause of Dr. Icha’s death, including probing the sequence of events before she was found deceased. Icha was found dead by hanging at her parents’ residence in Baumata, Kupang, on Friday (26/6/2026).

The TTU Resort Police have examined colleagues of Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni who were in the emergency room of Leona General Hospital during the alleged intimidation by three TTU DPRD members. The doctor was reportedly suffering from severe depression before she hanged herself.

The legislators set to be questioned are Veronika Lake from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Norbertus Bani from PKB, and Thrensius Lazakar from Golkar. TTU Police Chief AKBP Eliana Papote confirmed that the three DPRD members would soon be summoned for clarification.
