PKB Legislator Requests Government Explanation on National Nutrition Agency's Electric Motorcycle Procurement
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa, a member of DPR RI’s Commission IX, has requested that the government explain the National Nutrition Agency’s (BGN) procurement of electric motorcycles.
“An official explanation from BGN is hoped to clarify the confusion regarding the urgency of using electric motorcycles in the operational distribution of nutrition across various regions,” Neng Eem stated in a written press release on Thursday (9/4/2026).
She stressed that the public has the right to know the origins of the procurement of 21,800 electric motorcycle units for the operations of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
“The public has the right to know the origins of the procurement, its purpose, and the source of funding. To obtain complete and accurate information, confirmation with BGN is the right step to clarify the chronology. Do not let prolonged polemics arise due to a lack of openness,” Neng Eem said.
According to her, clarity of information is crucial to stem public speculation that could erode the credibility of the government’s priority programme.
“The MBG programme is a priority of President Prabowo that must be guarded together to avoid negative spotlight that would erode the credibility and quality of the programme,” she said.
She reminded that transparency is not just about opening data, but also ensuring that the public understands the rationale behind the policy.
Therefore, public oversight is considered important to prevent inefficiency or potential misuse of state funds.
“The MBG programme concerns the fulfilment of nutrition for the wider community. Budget openness is key so that the public can help ensure the programme runs on target. BGN certainly has a planning basis, but that must be conveyed openly to avoid triggering distrust,” Neng Eem stated.
It was previously reported that the procurement of electric motorcycles for the MBG programme has become a hot topic in society.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana explained that the vehicles are needed to support distribution to hard-to-reach areas.
“Yes, this programme reaches areas that will be very difficult. Reaching villages and areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. That’s to support operations,” Dadan said at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
