PKB leader expresses wish for reconciliation

JAKARTA: National Awakening Party (PKB) leader Muhaimin
Iskandar said on Saturday he was ready to reconcile with Alwi
Shihab, whose legal efforts to overturn his dismissal as PKB
leader earlier this year were put to an end by a Supreme Court
ruling on Friday.

Muhaimin said he had yet to receive a copy of the Supreme
Court decision, but was certain it would not change anything
because the PKB national congress that elected him in April was
valid.

The Supreme Court supported on Friday Alwi's claim that he had
been wrongfully dismissed as the party's leader following his
appointment to the Cabinet of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whose
presidential bid was not supported by the PKB.

However, Alwi's demand that he be reinstated as the party's
