PKB holds simulation of direct election

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Chapter of the Nation Awakening Party (PKB)
held on Sunday a simulation of direct gubernatorial election in
50 locations in Jakarta.

"We are only conducting this simulation in order to gauge the
public readiness in applying such a direct election of governor.
We just don't care who is the winner," said deputy chairman of
PKB Jakarta Chapter, Syaifuddin, who is also the chairman of the
Gubernatorial Election Committee.

He was speaking to Antara on Sunday when visiting the Galur
Voting Stand in Senen district of Central Jakarta where some 500
people were participating in the simulation.

The Public Relations Manager of PKB, Zoelva said that the
simulation was the first organized by PKB, while the other
parties have never held one before.

Some residents said that they were happy to be participating
in the direct election, even though it was just a simulation.
"The other parties should also do it," said Bobby, a student of
Bung Karno University after participating in the simulation in
Tebet district, South Jakarta. -- JP
