PKB Guarantees No Intervention in Cilacap Regent's Legal Process at KPK
Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman has been named as a suspect following a sting operation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The PKB party has committed to respecting the legal process.
“PKB will certainly respect and follow the legal process concerning the Cilacap Regent’s sting operation case. PKB will also not intervene in the legal process and will leave everything entirely to the KPK to work professionally, transparently and fairly without bias,” said Abdullah, PKB’s spokesperson on Commission III of the House of Representatives, when contacted on Sunday (15 March 2026).
Syamsul Auliya Rahman is a PKB cadre. Abdullah stated that the party would provide legal assistance. “We will certainly provide legal support,” he said.
Furthermore, he delivered a firm message to all party cadres to avoid corruption. He expressed hope that the case ensnaring Syamsul Auliya would not be repeated.
“I also wish to convey a firm message to all PKB cadres: never be tempted and never tempt others to commit corruption. Public office is a public mandate that must be safeguarded with integrity, not misused for personal interests,” he said.
“We hope this case will be the last involving a regional head from PKB. The party will certainly conduct serious evaluations and monitoring to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” he added.
Background
The KPK revealed that Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman had asked the Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono to collect contributions for Eid holiday bonuses in 2026.
Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, stated that Sadmoko had set a target collection of Rp 750 million from the 23 regional agencies, exceeding the stated need of Rp 515 million. Each agency was targeted to contribute between Rp 75-100 million.
“That the Cilacap Regent for the 2025-2030 period, in relation to Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, instructed the Regional Secretary of Cilacap Regency to collect funds for the purpose of providing holiday bonuses to individuals and external parties,” said Asep at the KPK’s press conference at the Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Saturday (14 March).
“Although the actual contributions received varied, ranging from Rp 3 million to Rp 100 million per regional agency,” he added.
Syamsul had requested the contributions be submitted by 13 March 2026. Regional agencies that had not yet submitted would be billed by municipal assistants, assisted by the Head of the Civil Service Police and the Head of the Food Security Office of Cilacap.
In total, Rp 610 million was collected. The money was then handed to Sadmoko by one of the assistants named Ferry Adhi Dharma.
“During the period of 9-13 March 2026, 23 regional agencies of Cilacap Regency submitted the Regent’s request, collected through Ferry Adhi Dharma, with a total reaching Rp 610 million,” said Asep.
