PKB Faction in Bondowoso DPRD Stresses Investment Must Strengthen Local Economy and MSMEs
The PKB faction in the Bondowoso DPRD has affirmed its commitment to supporting a conducive investment climate in the region. The stance was conveyed during a meeting to discuss the draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on the Provision of Regional Investment Incentives and Facilities. For PKB, the presence of investment is not merely measured by the amount of capital entering, but also by the extent to which it can drive regional economic growth, open employment opportunities, and improve the welfare of Bondowoso’s people. PKB Faction spokesperson Gina Belanza Mulia stated that policies facilitating investment must still consider the interests of the local community. She added that investment must also protect micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), local workers, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the social and religious values that characterise Bondowoso must form an important part of the regulation. “PKB encourages the regional government to direct investment towards sectors with significant potential to move the regional economy,” said Gina in an official statement. Key sectors of interest include downstream coffee processing, agriculture, livestock, agro-industry, tourism development in the Ijen area, renewable energy, the creative economy, and the strengthening of MSMEs. According to the young politician, incoming investment must have a direct impact on the community and not solely benefit capital owners. “The PKB faction supports healthy and modern investment, but such investment must still side with the people of Bondowoso. MSMEs, farmers, livestock breeders, and local workers must receive tangible benefits from every incoming investment,” she stated. The PKB faction also highlighted the discussion on the Raperda concerning Regional Government Capital Participation in the Ijen Tirta Bondowoso Municipal Water Utility (Perumda). The faction believes that the change in the business entity’s status from a Regional Company to a Regional Public Company must be accompanied by an improvement in the quality of corporate governance. PKB considers this transformation a momentum to strengthen professionalism, transparency, and accountability in the management of regional enterprises, thereby enhancing services to the public while supporting the company’s sustainable performance.
