PKB Expresses Condolences over Death of Senior Hamas Leader's Son
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Awakening Party (PKB) has expressed condolences over the death of Azzam al-Hayya, son of Hamas leader and Gaza negotiation chief Khalil al-Hayya, along with his four children, in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip.
PKB’s foreign relations chair Luluk Hamidah, in a statement from Jakarta on Saturday, extended condolences to Khalil via telephone and conveyed profound sympathy for the incident.
She also emphasised the continued support of the Indonesian people for the Palestinians, their steadfastness in achieving legitimate rights, and the liberation of Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque, while affirming the great love and solidarity of Indonesians towards Palestine and its people.
Meanwhile, Khalil al-Hayya expressed thanks and appreciation to Luluk and PKB for their attention and supportive stance towards the Palestinian people.
“He also sent greetings and respects to PKB General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and praised the stance of the Indonesian people and their ongoing efforts in supporting the Palestinian struggle,” Luluk said.
Khalil affirmed that the blood of Palestinian fighters will pave the way to the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the restoration of the Palestinian people’s rights.
He also stated that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people will not weaken their determination to continue defending their rights and sanctity, and to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque until freedom is achieved and a Palestinian state is established.
At the end of the conversation, both parties emphasised the importance of continuing to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, defending their rights and the principles of their struggle, and mobilising all efforts to stop the aggression and realise the freedom and liberation of Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It is known that Azzam al-Hayya was killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian resistance group, on Thursday (7/5).
“The cowardly Zionist crime targeting Azzam al-Hayya, son of the Gaza group leader and head of the negotiation delegation, brother Mujahid Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, is a continuation of the occupation’s approach that targets civilians and families of Palestinian leaders,” Hamas said in its statement.
Hamas stated that Israel is attempting to pressure the group in this manner after failing to impose its conditions in negotiations to end the war in Gaza.
