A member of Commission III of the West Java DPRD, Tina Wiryawati, views the motor vehicle tax (PKB) discount policy rolled out by the West Java Provincial Government as a concrete form of support for the community. In particular, it lightens the economic burden ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. The 10% discount programme for annual vehicle tax payments applies from 18 March to 24 March 2026 and can be utilised by West Java residents. “This is a policy that deserves appreciation. The government is present to provide ease and relief to the community through vehicle tax discounts. Amid rising needs during Lebaran, this is certainly very helpful,” Tina told Republika on Thursday (19/3/2026). According to her, this policy not only impacts the economic side of the community but also encourages increased tax compliance. With the incentive, the public is expected to become more aware of the importance of fulfilling tax obligations on time. “Tax payment awareness must continue to be built. With this discount, the community has the opportunity to fulfil their obligations more lightly. This is a strategic step by the government,” she said. Tina emphasised that the vehicle tax paid by the public ultimately returns in the form of regional development. She mentioned that the West Java Provincial Government is currently focused on boosting infrastructure development in various areas. “It needs to be understood that the tax paid by the public does not disappear. Those funds return in the form of development, such as road repairs, bridges, and other public facilities. This must continue to be socialised,” she stated. She also urged the public not to miss the opportunity, especially since the payment process is now increasingly easy through digital services. “The public can utilise various online payment channels that have been provided. So there is no reason to delay tax payments anymore,” she said. Previously, the West Java Governor, Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM), stated that this PKB discount policy is an effort by the government to provide convenience while encouraging the public to be wiser in managing expenses during the Lebaran momentum. The 10% discount, said KDM, applies specifically to online payments, either through KiosK Samsat at all main Samsat offices, the Sapawarga application, or Signal (National Digital Samsat). “Rather than the money being spent on Lebaran, it’s better to pay the tax and get a 10% discount,” said KDM on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
