Abdullah, Deputy Chair of PKB in the DPR’s Commission III, stated that the case of alleged abuse against children at the Little Aresha childcare facility is a cruel act. Abdullah demanded that the suspects receive the maximum punishment.

“The torture of children at Little Aresha daycare is a heinous act that has no place in our humanity and law. I emphasise to the law enforcement authorities that whoever the perpetrators are, including those in the structure, management, or founders of the daycare, they must be punished to the maximum,” Abdullah told reporters on Monday (27/4/2026).

In addition, he called for a thorough evaluation of daycare practices in Indonesia. He reminded that there are thousands of daycares, not all of which have permits.

“Daycare practices must be evaluated totally and comprehensively. There are a great many daycares in Indonesia, reaching thousands, but not all meet licensing standards and adequate, quality operational procedures,” he said.

For this reason, he requested that daycare SOPs be improved and tightened. This includes, according to him, screening by parents through applications.

“Including through profiling or screening mechanisms by parents via applications or digital platforms. In addition, the state needs to maximise daycare services, including by providing subsidies, as a form of responsibility in fulfilling the right to a decent life for toddlers and children,” he added.

He also encouraged relevant agencies to restore the trauma of the children who became victims of the abuse.

“I also urge other competent agencies to optimally restore physical and psychological trauma in the children and parents who became victims of that daycare,” he stated.

It was previously reported that police raided Little Aresha daycare on Friday (24/4). Officers, during the raid, found children in bound conditions.

The average victims are under two years old. Police then secured 30 people in the raid.

After intensive examination, 13 people were designated as suspects in the Little Aresha daycare violence case. The suspects include foundation leaders to caregivers.

Regarding the motive, it is still under police investigation. So far, there are 53 child victims recorded.

“So, until last night, we held a case review and then designated 13 people as temporary suspects,” said Yogyakarta Police Chief Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, quoted from detikJogja, Saturday (25/4).
