PJT II Evaluates Security System After Officer's Death
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Perum Jasa Tirta II (PJT II) is carrying out a thorough evaluation of security systems across all of its operational areas as part of efforts to strengthen risk mitigation following the death of a security officer.
PJT II President Director Imam Santoso said the company continues to coordinate with the Purwakarta Police and the Purwakarta Military District to support the investigation whilst reinforcing security at the national vital object so that company operations remain safe.
“We leave the investigative process entirely to law enforcement and respect every stage currently under way. The company will continue to coordinate intensively with the TNI and Polri and provide whatever support is needed within our authority,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Imam said the coordination is being reinforced by the State-Owned Enterprise Management Agency (BP BUMN), which is also communicating with the police and military to ensure the law enforcement process runs optimally and that the security of the national vital object is maintained.
According to him, PJT II will provide the information and data required during the investigation without disrupting the ongoing legal process.
Beyond supporting law enforcement, the company is treating the incident as a moment to strengthen the culture of safety and workplace security systems.
“This incident serves as a reminder for us to keep strengthening our safety culture and company security systems. We will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of security aspects across all operational areas and enhance the mitigation measures needed so that a similar event does not recur,” Imam said.
He also urged the public to respect the legal process and not to spread unverified information so as not to interfere with the investigation.
PJT II affirmed that it will continue to update the public responsibly with information that may be published without hindering law enforcement.
Investigators are currently gathering evidence, questioning witnesses, analysing CCTV footage and awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of the victim’s death, according to Purwakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Made Purwantara.
Made explained that the victim had been carrying out a night watch in the Jatiluhur Dam area before being reported unreachable at around 03.00 Western Indonesia Time.
Colleagues subsequently launched a search until the victim was found floating in the Tanggul Kayat area, face-down and still wearing his duty uniform. The body was evacuated to Bayu Asih Hospital in Purwakarta before being taken to Sartika Asih Hospital in Bandung for autopsy.
During the investigation, police have questioned 12 witnesses comprising local residents and the victim’s colleagues, secured the victim’s mobile phone and are examining CCTV recordings in PJT II’s operational area.
West Java Regional Police Head of Public Relations Chief Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan said investigators are still conducting a series of investigative steps, including witness examinations, evidence gathering, CCTV analysis and awaiting autopsy results.
He also called on the public not to speculate about the cause of the victim’s death or the parties suspected of involvement until the entire investigative process is complete.
