PJT II Evaluates Security System After Officer's Death

Perum Jasa Tirta II (PJT II) is carrying out a thorough evaluation of its security system across all operational areas as part of efforts to strengthen risk mitigation after the death of a security officer. President Director of PJT II Imam Santoso stated that the company is also continuously coordinating with the Purwakarta Police and Purwakarta Military District Command to support the investigation process whilst reinforcing the security of national vital assets to ensure the company’s operations remain safe. “We fully entrust the investigation process to law enforcement and respect every stage that is underway. The company will continue to coordinate intensively with the TNI and Polri and provide the necessary support within our authority,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. Imam said this coordination is reinforced with support from the SOE Management Agency (BP BUMN), which has also communicated with the police and TNI to ensure the law enforcement process runs optimally and the security of national vital assets is maintained. According to him, PJT II will provide the necessary information and data during the investigation without disrupting the ongoing legal process. In addition to supporting law enforcement, the company is using the incident as momentum to strengthen the safety culture and security system within the work environment. “This incident serves as a reminder for us to continue strengthening the company’s safety culture and security system. We will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of security aspects across all operational areas and enhance the necessary mitigation measures so that similar incidents do not recur in the future,” said Imam. He also urged the public to respect the legal process and not disseminate unverified information that could disrupt the investigation. PJT II affirmed it will continue to provide updates to the public responsibly in accordance with information that can be published without hindering the law enforcement process. Investigators are currently gathering evidence, examining witnesses, analysing CCTV footage, and awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of the victim’s death, according to Purwakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Made Purwantara. Made explained that the victim had been on night duty in the Jatiluhur Reservoir area before being reported unreachable at around 3.00 a.m. local time. Colleagues then conducted a search until the victim was found floating in the Tanggul Kayat area in a face-down position and still wearing his duty uniform. The body was evacuated to Bayu Asih Regional General Hospital in Purwakarta before being taken to Sartika Asih Hospital in Bandung for an autopsy. During the investigation, police have examined 12 witnesses comprising local residents and the victim’s colleagues, as well as securing the victim’s mobile phone and reviewing CCTV footage in the PJT II operational area. West Java Regional Police Public Relations Head Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan stated that investigators are still conducting a series of inquiries through witness examinations, evidence collection, CCTV analysis, and awaiting the autopsy results. He also urged the public not to speculate about the cause of the victim’s death or any parties allegedly involved until the entire investigation process is completed.
