PJLP Workers in DKI Jakarta Voice Outcry Over Holiday Allowance Deductions Reaching Rp 2 Million
JAKARTA — Several contract workers employed as Penyedia Jasa Lainnya Perorangan (PJLP) under the DKI Jakarta provincial government have lodged complaints over substantial deductions applied to their Holiday Allowance (THR) this year.
Several workers reported that the THR amounts deposited into their accounts were significantly reduced due to tax deductions ranging from Rp 1 million to Rp 2 million.
The situation has forced these workers to readjust their spending plans ahead of the Eid holiday.
According to Liman, the deductions are particularly burdensome for field workers like himself. He drew a comparison with civil servants (ASN), arguing they do not face similar tax deductions.
“This is quite painful. PJLP workers face substantial deductions, but civil servants are not taxed. It seems as though PJLP workers are paying taxes on behalf of civil servants,” he said.
Similar complaints were raised by Romudin (a pseudonym), who expressed shock upon checking his THR deposit on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
He calculated that his THR had been reduced by Rp 1.9 million from the amount he was originally entitled to receive.
“I faced a total deduction of Rp 1.9 million and was quite shocked when it was deposited yesterday,” Romudin said on Wednesday.
According to him, deductions had occurred in previous years, but never at such substantial levels.
“In previous years there were also deductions, but they were normally only in the hundreds,” he added.
However, faced with the sizeable reduction, he was forced to revise his plans for using the allowance.
“Normally I use THR to give to my relatives. But now I have to use it for my living expenses after Eid,” he said.
Nevertheless, he stated he would not object to the deductions if they were applied for a clearly defined purpose.
