Pitting people
Pitting people
against each other
From Kompas
As an ordinary citizen, I was sad and disappointed to learn of
the establishment of the Message of the People's Plight Front
(Ampera) as I find it hard to understand why those claiming to be
community figures always set a bad example for the people.
Why do they always say they are speaking on behalf of the
people when they try to topple the legitimate government? Why do
they enjoy bickering and arguing without respecting the law? Why
don't they have the courage to take part in a dialog with members
of the House of Representatives or the People's Consultative
Assembly or even the President so that a useful two-way
communication can be established?
Ordinary citizens need to follow good examples. Do not pit us
against others. Never think that the truth belongs only to you
and that you do everything in the name of the people.
On the other hand, the government has to be more responsive to
the people's plight and should refrain from drawing up policies
that will only bring us greater suffering.
For us, as ordinary citizens, the seemingly ceaseless amount
of suffering is almost unbearable now. So please be united in
order to help build this beloved country. We should never allow
ourselves to be provoked.
