PITA to hold AIDS film festival

JAKARTA: Pita, a support group for people living with HIV/AIDS, will hold an AIDS Film Festival between Dec. 9 and Dec. 13, in conjunction with the World AIDS Day.

During the festival 11 films will be shown at the French Cultural Center (CCF) on Jl. Salemba Raya and the Cemara 6 Gallery in Menteng, both in Central Jakarta, and the Haj Usmar Ismail Theater (PPHUI) in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

The festival will kick off at the Cemara 6 Gallery on Dec. 8. Overall, 10 films, including Philadelphia, Bukak Api and Fight Back Fight AIDS, will be shown at the venue.

CCF will screen 10 movies, including The Gift, The Cure, Savage Nights and AIDS, An Endless Story.

The PPHUI will screen one film, The Cure, which will be restricted to students only.

An open discussion on AIDS will be held on Dec. 13 at the Cemara 6 Gallery. -- JP
