Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has stated that its energy supply chain and distribution operations remain solid, supported by at least 345 vessels managed by entities within the Pertamina Group.

“The energy supply chain and distribution remain solid, both in international waters and Indonesian waters, supported by at least 345 vessels under the management of other Pertamina Group entities,” said Vega Pita, Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping, confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta on Tuesday.

This statement was made in connection with two Pertamina cargo vessels trapped in the Arab Gulf due to Middle East regional tensions.

On Monday 2 March, PIS reported four vessels in the Middle East area: the Gamsunoro, which is undergoing loading at Khor al Zubair in Iraq; the Pertamina Pride, which has completed loading and is now anchored at Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia; the PIS Rinjani, currently anchored at Khor Fakkan in the UAE; and the PIS Paragon, which is discharging in Oman.

Currently, two vessels remain operating in the Middle East region — the VLCC Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, which are in the Arab Gulf. These vessels are awaiting a safe situation to exit through the Strait of Hormuz. Both are reported to be in safe condition.

The Gamsunoro is carrying cargo belonging to third-party customers. Meanwhile, the VLCC Pertamina Pride is on a mission transporting crude oil supplies (light crude oil) to meet domestic energy requirements.

“We seek prayers and support from all Indonesian people for the safety of our ship crews and workers who continue to perform their duties in the Middle East region,” said Vega.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that it continues to engage in dialogue with Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of two Pertamina tankers detained in the Strait of Hormuz due to tensions between Iran and the United States-Israel.
