When I went to Cempaka Mas shopping center in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, I was surprised to find vendors openly selling pirated VCDs and DVDs there at a very low price.

When the law on intellectual property rights came into effect last year, the authorities conducted intensive raids to eliminate the distribution of pirated VCDs and DVDs as otherwise Indonesia would be penalized by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Unfortunately, now pirated VCDs and DVDs are openly available again in public places. The authorities must therefore intensify their raids to eliminate the distribution of these pirated VCDs and DVDs and find the masterminds.
