Piped Gas Distribution Projected to Fall 4.8% Ahead of Eid al-Fitr
The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) has projected a decline in piped gas distribution during the National Sector Energy and Mineral Resources Post Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2026 period. The decline is estimated to reach 4.8% compared to the realisation of the same period last year.
Head of the National Energy and Mineral Resources Sector Post Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026, Erika Retnowatin, stated that PT PGN (Persero) continues to distribute natural gas to more than 3.29 million commercial and industrial customers, more than 2.9 million small customers, and more than 818,000 household gas connections.
“A decline in trading volume of 4.8% is projected compared to the RAFI realisation in 2025,” she said during the Opening Press Conference of the National Energy and Mineral Resources Sector Post RAFI 2026 on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Additionally, PGN also distributes natural gas to more than 9 power plants, including the PLN Group, through an integrated 33,400-kilometre gas pipeline network, 13 gas stations, 3 regasification units, and 3 LNG terminals spread across 18 provinces and 74 regencies and municipalities safely and reliably.
“The gas subholding or PGN Group is committed to continuing the distribution of natural gas,” said Erika.
Meanwhile, LPG consumption is projected to rise 4% compared to normal consumption. During the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period, there are 40 LPG terminals, 757 fuel distribution points, and 6,662 LPG agents on standby.
“The forecast for LPG stock resilience remains in safe condition and LPG conditions are maintained to remain stable throughout the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period,” she stressed.
