Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Persatuan Intelektual Muda dan Pelajar Indonesia (Pionir) held a National Camp at the Cibubur campsite in East Jakarta to instil love for the nation and country.

Pionir chairman Muhammad Hanif said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that the two-day event provided an opportunity to learn about national values and the importance of preserving bonds of brotherhood among the country’s people.

“Through this National Camp, the Persatuan Intelektual Muda dan Pelajar Indonesia hopes participants will not only gain knowledge, but also be able to put the values of Pancasila, the spirit of mutual cooperation and tolerance into practice in their daily lives,” he said.

Hanif added that the event was also intended to help nurture a generation of young people with strong character, social awareness and a commitment to safeguarding the unity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

A number of speakers were invited to provide participants with guidance and insight into national affairs, including representatives from the National Police Security Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam), the Jakarta provincial National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol), and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT).

“The aim is to instil patriotism, strengthen a sense of brotherhood and shape students into people who care about the nation’s future,” said National Police Security Intelligence Agency chief Commissioner General Dedy Kusuma Bakti.

He urged the campers to avoid drugs and online gambling, and to use social media responsibly.

“Teenagers of this age are particularly vulnerable to negative influences, such as online gambling, drug use, student brawls and the spread of fake news on social media,” Dedy said.

Through a range of outdoor activities, participants were encouraged to understand the meaning of togetherness, discipline and responsibility, while also fostering mutual respect amid Indonesia’s social diversity.
