Pindad Ready to Develop Transparent Vehicle as Requested by President Prabowo

The President Director of PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa, has stated that the company is prepared to meet President Prabowo Subianto’s request regarding a transparent and more open vehicle. “If that is the case, we are continuously preparing for it,” said Sigit following a meeting at the Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (18/05/2026). Sigit noted that the company is currently working on the specifics of this special vehicle, though he asked the public to wait for further developments.

Previously, it was reported that President Prabowo has been considering a special vehicle design to facilitate easier interaction with the public during regional tours. He noted that the enthusiasm of citizens crowding the streets during his visits makes him reluctant to remain hidden inside a standard vehicle. “There are so many people out on the streets, it wouldn’t be right for the President to be stuck inside a vehicle. It wouldn’t look good,” Prabowo remarked during the inauguration of ,1061 Red and White Village Cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java.

Prabowo mentioned that he frequently stands up from his vehicle to greet citizens directly and often accepts handshakes from people who have waited for hours under the sun. “Our people want to shake hands; how can we refuse them?” said Prabowo. He further requested that PT Pindad prepare a design for such a vehicle, stating, “I am thinking about asking Pindad to design a special vehicle for the President using glass, where there are seats but I can still be seen standing.”
