Pindad CEO Ready to Design a Transparent Presidential Car

Jakarta — Sigit Puji Santosa, the Chief Executive of PT Pindad (Persero), said the company is ready to provide a design for a transparent presidential car, the Maung. This would allow the President of the Republic of Indonesia to greet the public without alighting from the vehicle. Sigit explained that PT Pindad indeed received a direct request from the President regarding the preparation of a vehicle built with special glass. Technicians at the company are now preparing to realise it. ‘If so, we will keep preparing it,’ Sigit said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday, 18 May 2026. He added that the request for a transparent-glass presidential car indeed came directly from President Prabowo Subianto. However, PT Pindad could not reveal details of the specifications or the completion timeline yet. ‘Yes, we are preparing it,’ he said. Regarding the target completion date, Sigit did not give a definite timeframe. He said to await an official government announcement. ‘Just wait for the official date to be announced,’ Sigit said. The request for a presidential car design emerged when President Prabowo Subianto spoke at the launch of 1,061 Merah Putih Village/Desa/Kelurahan Cooperatives in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Prabowo began his request by recounting the public’s enthusiasm to shake hands during each working visit to various regions.
