PIMA urges regional boards to strengthen synergy to develop maritime sector

The Chairperson of the Association of Reliable Maritime Professionals (PIMA), Harnoto Darsono, has called on all regional administrators to strengthen cooperation with government agencies to develop Indonesia’s maritime potential.

Harnoto made these remarks during the inauguration of the PIMA Central Java Regional Leadership Council (DPW) in Rembang, Central Java, on Saturday (2/8), according to a press release received in Jakarta.

“PIMA is not merely a forum for maritime professionals from various professional backgrounds, but also serves as a strategic partner to the government, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), the Polri (Indonesian National Police), the business community, academics, and the public in driving the progress of Indonesia’s maritime sector,” he stated.

According to Harnoto, Indonesia possesses vast maritime potential, ranging from natural resources to the tourism sector. This potential must be utilised optimally to improve public welfare, particularly within the economic sphere.

“We believe that maritime development cannot be carried out in isolation. Synergy among all stakeholders is required so that the ambition to establish Indonesia as a global maritime axis can truly be realised,” he added.

In addition to strengthening synergy with the government, Harnoto noted that organisational expansion in regional areas is necessary to ensure that maritime sector development programmes can be implemented simultaneously across various regions.

“To the Chairperson of the Central Java DPW and all newly inaugurated officials, I hope that concrete, measurable work programmes that address community needs will be developed immediately,” he said.

Harnoto expressed hope that the programmes implemented by the PIMA Central Java DPW would be able to address the needs of the community within the maritime economic sector.

“It is my hope that from Rembang, a region with a long history as a coastal and port city, a new spirit will emerge to strengthen the role of PIMS Indonesia in Central Java,” he concluded.

The inauguration was also attended by several officials from the TNI and Polri, including the Commander of Kodam V Rear Admiral Ali Triswanto, the Commander of Lanal Semarang Colonel Marine Sabprowanto, and the Rembang Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Solikhin.
