PIM resumes fertilizer production

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Fertilizer company PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) in Krueng Geukuh, North Aceh regency, has produced 9,350 tons of fertilizer since it resumed operations on March 27, a company spokesman said on Friday.

"Now we are producing 850 tons per day, but this figure will increase gradually," said Fachrulsyah, head of public relations at PIM.

He said the company received a gas supply of 67 million metric standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) to achieve its daily production volume. The company's operation was delayed recently due to a gas shortage.

In regards PT PIM-2, another fertilizer factory in North Aceh, Fachrulsyah said the plant would possibly resume operations in the next eight months. "The delay in PT PIM-2's operation is not caused by a gas shortage, but because of damage to its machinery," he said. -- Antara
