PIM appoints overseas leadership to strengthen global network
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Leadership of Perempuan Indonesia Maju (PIM) is strengthening international networks and collaboration by appointing its US chapter as part of efforts to expand the role of Indonesian women globally.
“PIM aims to be present not only in Indonesia but also as a unifying platform for Indonesian women in various countries. With a strong international network, we can support each other, share experiences, and open up wider collaboration opportunities,” said PIM General Chairperson Lana T. Koentjoro in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
She added that this global network strengthening is a key part of PIM’s vision to empower Indonesian women, making them more self-reliant and contributing significantly across various sectors, both nationally and internationally.
Meanwhile, PIM US Chairperson Gaby Hasnan expressed gratitude to the PIM Central Leadership for entrusting her to lead the organisation in the US.
“We will focus on cultural and immigration issues and act as a bridge for Indonesian SMEs looking to enter foreign markets, including the United States,” said Hasnan.
Kongres Wanita Indonesia (Kowani) General Chairperson Nannie Hadi Tjahyanto voiced support for PIM’s expansion of networks abroad.
She noted that this move aligns with Kowani’s plan to establish a Foreign Leadership Council (DPLN) in several countries.
“We can work together. As the umbrella women’s organisation, Kowani is happy to collaborate with PIM in commemorating its 100th anniversary,” said Nannie Hadi Tjahyanto.
