Pilgrims urged to restore physical condition before Tawaf Ifadah
Makkah - Indonesian Hajj Organizing Agency (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia has urged Indonesian Hajj pilgrims who have completed their overnight stay in Mina to restore their physical condition before proceeding with Tawaf Ifadah at the Grand Mosque.
“They will return to Makkah and rest adequately at their hotels before performing Tawaf Ifadah. We advise this for safety and security reasons, ensuring Tawaf Ifadah is conducted only after all Mina activities are fully completed,” said Erti Herlina, Head of the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (Bimbad and KBIHU) for Makkah Working Area of the Indonesian Hajj Organizing Agency (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.
She explained that the directive to perform Tawaf Ifadah after completing nafar awal and nafar tsani in Mina is based on technical considerations to maintain pilgrims’ fitness. The considerable distance between Mina and the Grand Mosque is considered to drain energy if pilgrims attempt Tawaf during their stay in Mina. Erti added that this approach has proven effective in maintaining pilgrims’ health and fitness. Erti also reminded that performing Tawaf Ifadah is an absolute pillar determining the validity of the Hajj pilgrimage. The process involves not only circumambulating the Kaaba but also Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwah hills) and concluding with Tahallul (shaving the head). “Thus, the entire pilgrimage rites are completed after performing the second Tahallul following Tawaf Ifadah,” she said.
