Pilgrims Urged to be Wary of Unofficial Dam Payment Offers

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Suci Annisa, has urged Indonesian pilgrims to be cautious of offers for dam payments from parties that do not have official authorisation.

Suci stated that offers made through text messages, social media, or by individuals claiming to facilitate dam payments at low prices, quickly, and easily, lack official legitimacy.

“We urge all Indonesian pilgrims to be wary of dam payment offers from unclear sources,” said Suci Annisa during a press conference on the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage, Sunday (17/5/2026).

She explained that the government provides space for pilgrims to carry out the dam ritual according to their respective fiqh beliefs.

However, specifically for pilgrims who choose to perform the dam in Saudi Arabia, payments are requested to be made through the Adahi Project, which is an official entity of the Saudi Arabian Government.

“In this way, pilgrims can avoid the risk of fraud, misuse of funds and the execution of a dam that cannot be accounted for,” said Suci.

“The management of the dam is not just about payment; more than that, it relates to the certainty of carrying out worship, protecting pilgrims and orderly governance of Hajj services in accordance with regulations,” she added.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will continue to strengthen coordination with the Hajj Pilgrimage Organising Officers (PPIH), religious guides, and all related elements so that information regarding the dam can be well understood by pilgrims.

“We want to ensure that all pilgrims have a correct understanding, have choices according to their respective fiqh beliefs and remain protected from unofficial practices that could potentially harm them,” said Suci.
