Pilgrimage cost
Pilgrimage cost
From Kompas
We decided to perform the haj pilgrimage this year (1995) and we fulfilled all the requirements, including paying for the pilgrimage through BRI bank, in Demak, Central Java.
But an uncle died prior to our departure, which prevented his wife from going as she was still in mourning. We immediately informed BRI of the cancellation and at the same time requested a refund. We were told that the money had been sent to Jakarta and we had to wait three months after the pilgrims returned to Indonesia.
Up to August (eight months had already passed), we still did not know when exactly we would receive the money. We contacted the Social Development Bureau in Central Java only to be told that the documents had just been sent to Jakarta, and they asked us to be patient. We wondered what had happened to the documents that we submitted in January.
We would like to direct our question to the Directorate General of Haj Affairs, Department of Religious Affairs, as to when we can expect to get our money back. Should we wait for it for years? Or has our hard-earned money gone just like that?
