The Dreded Public Cemetery (TPU Dreded) in South Bogor, Bogor City, has been bustling with pilgrims ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. Residents have been visiting the graves of deceased family members in large numbers.

Observations at the site showed TPU Dreded packed with visitors arriving with their families, including children. A number of residents were seen solemnly reciting prayers before the graves of their family members, concluding with the scattering of flowers upon the tombs.

"The number of visitors and pilgrims today has been quite substantial. It has actually been busy since last week, but the peak started from Friday, Saturday, through to today," said TPU Dreded officer Sumardi at the location on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

Several TPU Dreded officers were stationed near the entrance gates to assist pilgrims with their needs. Local residents also took advantage of the crowds by selling flowers.

Sumardi noted that TPU Dreded is always well-visited owing to its central location in the city and proximity to main roads. Pilgrims come from Bogor City and the surrounding areas.

"We have also received reports of people coming to search for records of their family members, as well as the location of graves they sometimes cannot recall. Perhaps due to their busy lives, some only visit once a year or once every two years," Sumardi said.

The government is scheduled to hold an isbat session this evening to determine the first day of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. The session will be chaired by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar.
