PIK2 Supports Nuzulul Qur'an Commemoration at Istiqlal Mosque, Echoes Civilisation Harmony
Jakarta – In commemoration of the night of Nuzulul Qur’an 1447 Hijriah, Istiqlal Mosque held a series of events entitled “Bridge of Civilisation Harmony” on Monday, 9 March 2026. The commemoration emphasised values of compassion, justice, brotherhood, and social harmony that form an important foundation in the life of a diverse society.
The theme “Bridge of Civilisation Harmony” reflects the spirit of cross-community unity aligned with the values of tolerance and brotherhood taught in the Qur’an.
In this activity, PIK2, which is part of Agung Sedayu Group and Salim Group, contributed as one of the sponsors supporting the holding of the religious event.
The Chair of Istiqlal Mosque’s Nuzulul Qur’an Committee, Mas’ud Halimin, explained that the choice of theme was motivated by the richness of civilisation and culture that Indonesia possesses. He hopes that the values of the Qur’an can become a spirit that unites various cultures into a great Nusantara civilisation.
“We hope that Nuzulul Qur’an at this momentous occasion becomes a bridge of civilisation harmony where the values of the Qur’an can become a unifying force for us all. It can be a value we champion together so that we are bound in one collective consciousness as children of the nation united in the spirit of Islamic brotherhood,” he said.
He added that the Qur’an possesses universal values that can serve as a bridge for dialogue between civilisations. At this year’s commemoration, Istiqlal Mosque collaborated with the Indonesian Muslim Chinese Association (PITI), affirming that Islam in Indonesia has grown in a spirit of diversity and cultural acculturation.
The series of activities in this commemoration presented various inspirational agendas, ranging from national dialogue and live sand painting art performances highlighting the history of Chinese Islam in Indonesia, to the launch of an illuminated Qur’an waqf programme with Chinese cultural nuances as a symbol of unity in diversity.
Not only as a sponsor, Agung Sedayu Group through its Al-Ikhlas PIK Mosque participated and contributed as a waqif in the illuminated Qur’an waqf programme with Chinese cultural nuances, with the handover represented by Dr. Ir. H. Restu Mahesa, M.M. as Chair of Al-Ikhlas PIK Mosque Foundation.
