PII Invites President Prabowo to Attend ASEAN Engineers Conference

The Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) has invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend the 44th Conference of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO), scheduled to take place in Bandung from 20 to 22 October 2026. PII Chairman Ilham Akbar Habibie personally conveyed the invitation during a meeting with Head of the Presidential Staff Office Dudung Abdurachman in Jakarta on Monday. “We conveyed that PII, as the organiser, has a strong interest because this ASEAN Engineers Conference, or CAFEO, relates to cooperation, collaboration, and the equalisation of Indonesian engineers’ competencies at the regional level,” Ilham said in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, explaining the reason for inviting President Prabowo to the event. Ilham further explained that PII delivered the invitation because CAFEO is seen as opening opportunities for Indonesian and ASEAN engineers to collaborate through various multinational projects. Meanwhile, Dudung stated that the government welcomes PII’s plan to host the ASEAN Engineers Conference in Bandung and will forward the invitation to President Prabowo through Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. “I will immediately convey the invitation for the President. Later, the State Secretary Minister will arrange the President’s schedule,” Dudung said. The 44th CAFEO agenda includes a conference, an engineering exhibition, working group sessions, and technical visits. Participants are scheduled to visit several sites, including PT Kereta Api Indonesia, PT Pindad, the Geology Museum, Bandung City Hall, the Bandung Institute of Technology, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT Bio Farma, and Bumi Herbal Dago in Ciburial, Bandung.
