PII Invites President Prabowo to Attend ASEAN Engineers Conference

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Engineers’ Association (PII) has invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend the 44th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO), an all-Southeast Asian engineers’ conference scheduled to be held in Bandung from 20–22 October 2026.

Specifically, PII Chairman Ilham Akbar Habibie conveyed the invitation during a meeting with Head of the Presidential Staff Dudung Abdurachman in Jakarta on Monday.

“We conveyed that PII, as the organiser, has a strong interest because this all-ASEAN engineers’ conference, or CAFEO, relates to cooperation, collaboration, and the equalisation of Indonesian engineers’ competencies at the regional level,” said Ilham in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, regarding the reasons for inviting President Prabowo to attend the event.

Ilham further explained that PII extended the invitation because CAFEO is considered to open opportunities for Indonesian and ASEAN engineers to collaborate through a number of multinational projects.

Meanwhile, Dudung said the government welcomes PII’s plan to host the all-ASEAN engineers’ conference in Bandung, and will convey the invitation to President Prabowo through the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

“I will pass on the invitation to the President promptly. The Minister of State Secretary will then arrange the President’s schedule,” said Dudung.

The agenda for the 44th CAFEO includes a conference, an engineering exhibition, working group sessions, and technical visits.

A number of sites will be visited by participants of the 44th CAFEO, including PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PT Pindad (Persero), the Geology Museum, Bandung City Hall, the Bandung Institute of Technology, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), as well as PT Bio Farma (Persero) and the Dago Herbal Estate in Ciburial, Bandung.
