HANOI (AFP): French fashion retailer Pierre Cardin has found a new Vietnamese firm to manufacture and distribute its brand, after a bitter dispute with its previous partner over fakes, an official said yesterday.
An Phuoc company, a private garment manufacturer in Ho Chi Minh City, obtained an exclusive license to produce and distribute Pierre Cardin garments in Indochina including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, the company official said.
The contract will be initially valid for three years, he said.
The local firm is to produce shirts, jackets and other products bearing the Pierre Cardin label, conforming to the retailer's standards and under the strict quality supervision of its experts.
Pierre Cardin ended a franchise contract with its previous local partner seven months ago after accusing the company of flooding the local market with cheap fakes.
