PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, continues to strengthen national energy security through reliable and integrated international asset management. This commitment is realised through the ‘bring barrel home’ spirit, involving the shipment of crude oil from Algeria to Indonesia using the tanker MT Gamkonora. The vessel, owned by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, arrived in Cilacap, Central Java, on 24 June 2026, carrying approximately 450,000 barrels of crude oil from the Menzel Lejmat (MLN) Block 405a in Algeria. The shipment took about one month of sailing from Port Arzew, Algeria, having departed on 14 May 2026. PIEP President Director Syamsu Yudha stated that this achievement reflects Pertamina’s role as a global energy player. ‘This shipment strengthens Pertamina’s position as a competitive international oil and gas company, while carrying out the mandate to support national energy security through excellent and sustainable operations,’ Syamsu said in an official statement on Friday (26/6/2026). This is the second shipment in 2026, following the first delivery which arrived in Indonesia at the end of January 2026. PIEP has also planned a subsequent shipment, with a third vessel scheduled to depart in August and arrive in September 2026. PIEP Relations Manager Dhaneswari Retnowardhani stated that the arrival of crude carried by MT Gamkonora is part of the company’s ongoing synergy efforts, including ensuring that production from overseas assets can provide direct benefits for Indonesia. ‘In line with this, PIEP optimises the economic value of global production by leveraging international market opportunities and managing a value-added portfolio,’ Dhaneswari said. Through planned supply management and strong operational synergy, PIEP is committed to continuously supporting national energy security and ensuring a safe, stable, and sustainable energy supply for the Indonesian people.
