Pidie Regency Distributes 119 Cattle from Presidential Aid for Meugang Tradition
The Pidie Regency Government in Aceh Province has distributed 119 cattle from presidential aid provided by President Prabowo Subianto for the meugang tradition among communities affected by hydrometeorological disasters in the area.
Pidie Deputy Regent Alzaizi said on Tuesday that the President had previously allocated a budget of Rp2 billion to support the meugang tradition ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah for communities affected by flash floods and landslides.
“The Pidie Regency Government subsequently purchased 119 cattle from the total presidential aid of Rp2 billion. These hundred-odd cattle were distributed to disaster-affected communities,” the Deputy Regent said.
Alzaizi stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s aid was distributed to 5,547 families spread across eight sub-districts affected by hydrometeorological disasters in late November 2025.
The recipient communities comprised 1,461 families in Kembang Tanjong Sub-district, 1,615 families in Mutiara Timur Sub-district, and 1,843 families in Mutiara Sub-district.
Additionally, 118 families in Tangse Sub-district, 156 families in Glumpang Baro Sub-district, 348 families in Simpang Tiga Sub-district, as well as six families in Pidie Sub-district and two families in Keumala Sub-district were among the recipients.
“All families receiving meugang meat from the President are spread across 59 villages or gampong in eight sub-districts in Pidie Regency,” he said.
Alzaizi detailed that of the 119 cattle, 31 were distributed to Kembang Tanjong Sub-district, 39 to Mutiara Sub-district, and three to Tangse Sub-district.
Furthermore, seven cattle were distributed to Keumala Sub-district, four to Glumpang Baro Sub-district, and 31 each were distributed to Mutiara Timur Sub-district, Pidie Sub-district, and Keumala Sub-district.
“In accordance with the agreement reached by the Pidie Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), those entitled to receive presidential meugang meat aid are families whose homes were damaged by the floods in late November 2025,” Alzaizi said.
The Deputy Regent explained that the beef distribution was carried out using a coupon system. Residents whose names appeared on the recipient list would receive coupons from their respective keuchik or village heads.
“Residents then exchanged the coupons for meugang meat at designated distribution points on the first day of meugang, Tuesday (17 February),” Alzaizi said.
