Banda Aceh (ANTARA) – The Pidie Jaya Regency Government is prioritising the restoration of basic services and public access to support communities affected by the disaster in the local area.

Deputy Regent Hasan Basri of Pidie Jaya in Pidie Jaya, on Thursday, said that the restoration of basic services and public access includes handling clean water installations and repairs damaged by the hydrometeorological disaster.

‘Clean water and public access are fundamental needs. The Pidie Jaya Regency Government is prioritising the restoration of these basic services. At present, basic services continue to operate, albeit in an emergency condition,’ he said.

In addition, he said, the Pidie Jaya Regency Government is also committed to completing post-disaster recovery comprehensively so that economic activity, education, and social life of those affected return to normal.

Meanwhile, Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi said post-disaster recovery is not merely about repairing damage but also strengthening mitigation so that a similar event does not again have a large impact on the community.

‘We also ensure that the rehabilitation and reconstruction programme after the disaster is carried out in a measured and targeted manner, so that all sectors of community activity return to normal,’ he said.

Therefore, the Regent hopes that central government support through the Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara (APBN) scheme can accelerate the handling of infrastructure damaged by the hydrometeorological disaster in Pidie Jaya Regency.

He noted that the accelerations include construction of Blang Awe Bridge, PDAM clean-water network, river normalisation, down to the construction of temporary housing.

‘For temporary housing, in some locations there are facilities not yet adequate, such as no ceilings and ventilation. We hope that the construction of these temporary housing units will be completed soon,’ he said.
