The Pidie Jaya Regency Government in Aceh Province, through its Agriculture Office, is accelerating recovery through rehabilitation and reconstruction of agricultural land affected by hydrometeorological disasters in the regency.

Acting Head of the Pidie Jaya Agriculture Office M Nur Isga said on Thursday that the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction of agricultural land is intended to restore community land functions so that it becomes productive again.

“We continue to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction process for agricultural land affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency,” said M Nur Isga.

Total agricultural land in Pidie Jaya Regency reaches 8,500 hectares. Of that area, 1,607 hectares were damaged and covered in mud due to the overflow of the Krueng (river) Meureudu.

Of the damaged land area, 259 hectares are in severely damaged condition. A further 143 hectares are moderately damaged and 1,225 hectares are lightly damaged.

M Nur Isga said the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction is being carried out by deploying tractors at several points, including in Gampong Beuringen, Meurah Dua District.

“Meanwhile, land in Gampong Blang Cut, Gampong Buangan, and Gampong Dayah Kruet, Meurah Dua District, is still identified as experiencing severe damage and requires further handling,” said M Nur Isga.

Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi appreciated the swift action of the Agriculture Office and requested that post-disaster handling continue to be directed towards restoring community livelihoods.

“This rehabilitation and reconstruction is not only about restoring infrastructure, but also about how community agricultural land becomes productive again and farmers can return to work,” he said.

He said the government continues to be present to ensure the post-disaster recovery process runs smoothly and that its benefits are truly felt by the community in Pidie Jaya Regency.

Therefore, Sibral Malasyi hopes that all relevant officials will continue to collect data, determine priorities based on the level of damage and accelerate handling so that the agricultural sector recovers soon.

“We want farmers to return to the fields, return to production and regain their source of livelihood. Accelerating the recovery of the agricultural sector is an important part of rebuilding a more resilient Pidie Jaya Regency after the disaster,” said Sibral Malasyi.
