Pickup Driver's Bag Stolen While He Changes a Tire at Jembrana Gas Station, Bali
An pickup driver identified by initials KR became the victim of a theft at a fuel station in Jembrana District, Jembrana Regency, Bali. The black shoulder bag of the man from Sidoarjo, East Java, disappeared when it was stolen while he was busy changing a tyre in the SPBU area.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Jembrana Police, AKP Gede Alit Darmana, confirmed reports of the theft. He said police are investigating to identify the perpetrator who stole the pickup driver’s bag.
‘Indeed. We are still conducting investigations,’ Alit said briefly when contacted by detikBali, Wednesday (20/5/2026).
According to information gathered by detikBali, the incident occurred around 06:40 WITA on Wednesday. The victim, accompanied by a colleague, was driving a L300 pickup and stopped at SPBU Rahayu to refuel.
Realising one of the tyres was deflated, the victim then parked the pickup in front of the SPBU ATM to change the tyre. The tyre-changing process took around 15 minutes. After finishing, the victim continued the journey and did not realise his bag was missing.
Based on CCTV footage from the SPBU that went viral on social media, the alleged offender was seen riding a white-painted motorcycle, dressed in full clothing with a black jacket and wearing a red helmet. The alleged offender then parked his vehicle near the victim’s pickup.
After confirming the area was safe, the mysterious man approached the victim’s pickup using the motorcycle. The alleged offender was seen taking something from inside the car and heading east.
Meanwhile, the victim only realised his bag was missing when he resumed the journey and stopped in the Tegal Asih area, Jembrana, to patch the deflated tyre. When paying for the tyre repair, the victim was shocked to find the black shoulder bag that had been placed on the car seat had disappeared.
As a result, the victim suffered losses totalling Rp 2.5 million. The missing black shoulder bag contained Rp 700,000 in cash, a mobile phone, important documents, and an ATM card.
The victim reported the theft to Polres Jembrana. Police are currently pursuing the suspect who is believed to have exploited the moment when the victim was focused on fixing the tyre.
