Pickpocket queen has son

SEMARANG, Central Java: A woman known in her city as the
pickpocket queen gave birth to a baby boy at the Bhayangkara
police hospital on the eve of Idul Fitri, Antara reported.

The 28-year-old Yan alerted the guards in the local jail,
where she was being detained, as soon as her labor pains began.
She was rushed to the hospital in a patrol car.

Yan said she hoped the baby, her fourth child, would grow up
to be "a pious person, especially because he was born at the time
when thousands of Moslems were praising Allah."

She named the child Mohammad Tobat (meaning "repent") and
promised she too would really repent.

Yan quickly recuperated and joined the dozens of others in the
Semarang police lockup to celebrate Idul Fitri. (swe)
