Pick-up truck dragged by train

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A 40-car coal train hit a truck, dragging it for around one kilometer and killing three people on the spot over the weekend, reports said yesterday.

The accident took place in an unguarded railway crossing of Belungunratu Village in the North Sungkai sub-district, North Lampung. The three victims were two adults identified as Ridwan and Suryanti Iskandar, and Andi Firdiansyah, who was four years old.

The coal train was coming from Tanjung Karang and heading for Tanjung Enim. Wibisono, the spokesman for the local office of the state-owned insurance company Jasa Raharja, told Antara his office was preparing to present the insurance money to the relatives of the victims. (swe)
