Piche Kota Not Detained; Father, Deputy Speaker of Belu Regional Parliament, Stands as Guarantor
The parents of Petrus Yohannes Debrito Armando Jaga Kota, known as Piche Kota, have stood as guarantors, enabling the Indonesian Idol contestant to remain free during proceedings related to the alleged rape of a secondary school student in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Piche and two associates, Roy Mali and Rifal Sila, have been named suspects in the case.
“Based on the subjective assessment of investigators, PK (Piche Kota) has not been detained as he has been deemed cooperative throughout the examination process,” said Belu Police Chief Senior Commissioner I Gede Astawa on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
Gede explained that, in addition to being cooperative, Piche was not detained because his parents provided a guarantee. The son of the Deputy Speaker of the Belu Regional Parliament (DPRD) has been required only to report twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday.
“On Monday (23 February), investigators from the Women and Children Protection Unit of Belu Police also conducted an intensive examination of suspect PK,” Gede said.
Meanwhile, Belu Police are pursuing Roy Mali, who had previously failed to respond to summonses as both a witness and a suspect. On 20 February 2026, investigators officially issued a wanted persons notice (DPO) for Roy.
According to Gede, during his attempt to flee, Roy tried to cross the national border illegally. The attempt was foiled following coordination with the Indonesian Police Attaché in Dili and the Timor-Leste Police Authority.
