PT Sang Hyang Seri (SHS) and PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga (PI Niaga) have established a strategic synergy to strengthen national food security through optimisation of the agricultural supply chain. The partnership between members of the ID FOOD and Pupuk Indonesia holdings was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding the appointment of rice seed distributors at SHS’s Jakarta office on Monday, 2 March 2026.

“This partnership aims to create mutually beneficial business synergies by leveraging the core competencies of each company,” said SHS Chief Executive Adhi Cahyono Nugroho in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.

As the national seed producer, SHS will supply quality seeds, while PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga will optimise the distribution and trading network it possesses. Adhi described the collaboration as a concrete step in integrating the potential held by fellow state-owned enterprise subsidiaries.

“With distribution support from PI Niaga, we are optimistic that SHS’s superior seeds can reach farmers more widely and punctually, to support national agricultural productivity,” said Adhi.

PI Niaga Chief Executive Trudo HD welcomed the partnership as a joint effort to strengthen the company’s trading business line. As a distributor, Trudo stated that PI Niaga ensures the availability of quality rice seeds in the market will be increasingly secured.

“Ultimately, this will deliver added value for farmers,” said Trudo.

Trudo described the partnership not merely as a business transaction, but as a unification of companies handling the agricultural ecosystem. SHS focuses on seed genetic quality, whilst PI Niaga ensures its accessibility.

“This is an end-to-end solution for Indonesian farmers. This will bring PI Niaga’s distribution infrastructure and commercial experience to ensure superior rice seeds from SHS are available at the right time and in the right location,” said Trudo.

Trudo stated that synergy between state-owned enterprise holdings is the key to efficiency in the national food supply chain. Both parties agreed that exploration of this partnership opportunity will be guided by good faith, compliance with applicable law, and application of good corporate governance principles.

“Through this signing, SHS and PI Niaga commit to making genuine contributions to Indonesian agricultural development, whilst also strengthening the position of state-owned enterprises as the main pillar of food sovereignty,” said Trudo.
