Badung (ANTARA) - The Bali Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHUS) has stated that Bali is directing its tourism sector to transition from quantity to quality in the future to ensure benefits for the local community.

“We in Bali are at a crossroads between quantity and quality, and we have agreed that moving forward we will move towards quality, being more inclusive, involving the community more extensively, and certainly being higher quality and even more regenerative,” said the Chairman of PHRI Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, also known as Cok Ace.

This statement was delivered by Cok Ace during The 6th Global Conference on Entrepreneurship and Economy in an Era of Uncertainty (EEEU) at the Bali State Polytechnic (PNB) campus in Badung Regency on Wednesday.

The Chairman of PHRI Bali explained that the tourism industry can no longer be measured solely quantitatively through metrics such as the number of visits, hotel rooms, occupancy rates, flights, or expenditure figures alone.

According to the former Deputy Governor of Bali, tourist destinations should not only ask how many tourists are arriving, but how much value and benefit are being created for the economy and local communities.

“When we talk about quality, we are no longer talking about the number of tourists, the number of rooms, or occupancy rates,” he said.

What is being emphasised most at this time is the benefit felt by the community, whether they directly experience the advantages, and whether there is respect for culture and environmental balance.
