PHR Opens Batch 9 Internship Programme to Develop Riau's Energy Talent
PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has once again opened its Batch 9 Work Internship Programme as part of the company’s commitment to developing superior human resources in the energy sector. The programme provides a learning and self-development space for top graduates, especially those from Riau, to contribute to the national energy transformation journey. Through the programme, which has been running since 2022, interns have the opportunity to observe and be directly involved in the company’s various operational and business activities. During the six-month internship, they gain real work experience, mentoring from PHR professionals, and the chance to contribute to strategic projects supporting the company’s operations. Sanon RA Sitanggang, Vice President of Human Capital at PHR Regional 1 Sumatra, stated that the programme is a form of corporate investment in human resource development. ‘We aim to provide relevant learning experiences, broaden participants’ insights into the upstream oil and gas industry, and open opportunities for them to develop their potential and competencies,’ he said. Participants will be placed in various functions, including production engineering, geology, health, safety, security and environment (HSE), finance, communications, and the development of technology and digitalisation of oil and gas operations. The experience is expected to enrich their knowledge while enhancing their readiness to enter the professional world. The internship programme is open to D3, D4, and S1 graduates who have completed their education and are not yet employed. Applicants must come from tertiary institutions with a minimum accreditation of ‘Baik Sekali’ or equivalent, and have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00. Successful candidates will be placed across the entire Rokan Zone and Jakarta, according to the chosen internship location. For placement in Riau, participants must meet at least one of the following criteria: born in Riau; domiciled in Riau; or a graduate of a tertiary institution located in the Riau region. Meanwhile, internship opportunities in Jakarta are open to applicants from all over Indonesia. Registration for the Batch 9 Work Internship Programme will take place from 15–19 June 2026 via the website magangphr.id. Following the registration process, participants will undergo a series of selection stages, including academic potential tests and interviews, from 21 June to 10 July 2026. Successful candidates will attend onboarding and orientation on 31 August 2026 before commencing the internship on 1 September 2026. The programme runs until February 2027. During the programme, participants will receive an allowance, BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection, and an internship certificate. Since it was first launched in 2022, the PHR Work Internship Programme has involved more than 825 Riau natives from various disciplines. Alumni from the previous eight batches are now pursuing careers in various energy companies, furthering their education to higher levels, or building businesses independently. Through this programme, PHR continues to strengthen its role in building a sustainable talent pipeline to support the future human resource needs of Indonesia’s energy sector.
