PHR Opens Batch 9 Internship Programme to Develop Riau's Energy Talent
Jakarta – As part of the company’s commitment to developing superior human resources in the energy sector, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has reopened its Internship Programme Batch 9.
This programme provides a space for learning and self-development for top graduates, particularly those from Riau, to contribute to the national energy transformation journey. Through this programme, which has been running since 2022, interns have the opportunity to observe and be directly involved in various operational and business activities of the company. During the six-month internship period, they will gain real-world work experience, mentorship from PHR professionals, and the opportunity to contribute to various strategic projects supporting company operations.
“This programme is a form of the company’s investment in human resource development. We want to provide relevant learning experiences, expand participants’ insights into the upstream oil and gas industry, and open opportunities for them to develop their existing potential and competence,” said Sanon RA Sitanggang, Vice President of Human Capital for PHR Regional 1 Sumatra.
Participants will be placed in various functions, ranging from production engineering, geology, health, safety, security, and environment (HSE), finance, communications, to technology development and oil and gas operational digitalisation. This experience is expected to enrich their knowledge and increase their readiness to enter the professional workforce.
The internship programme is open to Diploma (D3), Applied Bachelor (D4), and Bachelor (S1) graduates who have completed their education and are currently unemployed. Applicants must be from universities with a minimum ‘Good’ (Baik Sekali) accreditation or equivalent, and possess a minimum GPA of 3.00. Successful participants will be placed throughout the Rokan Zone and Jakarta, depending on their chosen internship location.
For placements in Riau, participants must meet at least one of the following criteria: born in Riau, residing in Riau, or being a graduate of a university located in the Riau region. Meanwhile, internship opportunities in Jakarta are open to applicants from all over Indonesia.
Registration for Internship Programme Batch 9 will take place from 15–19 June 2026 via the webpage magangphr.id. Following the registration process, participants will undergo a selection series including academic potential tests and interviews between 21 June and 10 July 2026. Successful participants will undergo onboarding and orientation on 31 August 2026 before commencing their internship on 1 September 2026. The programme will run until February 2027. During the programme, participants will receive a stipend, BPJS Health and BPJS Employment coverage, and an internship certificate.
Since its launch in 2022, the PHR Internship Programme has involved over 825 individuals from Riau across various disciplines. From the previous eight batches, alumni are now building careers in various energy companies, pursuing higher education, or establishing independent businesses.
Through this programme, PHR continues to strengthen its role in building a sustainable talent pipeline to support the future human resource needs of Indonesia’s energy sector.
About PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan:
PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is a subsidiary of Pertamina operating in the upstream oil and gas business under the Upstream Subholding, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE). PHR was established on 20 December 2018. Pertamina was entrusted by the Indonesian Government to manage the Rokan Working Area since 9 August 2021.
Pertamina tasked PHR with managing the transition from the previous operator. The transition process was completed safely, smoothly, and reliably. PHR will continue to manage the Rokan Zone for 20 years, from 9 August 2021 to 8 August 2041.
The Rokan Zone operational area covers approximately 6,200 km2 across 7 regencies/cities in Riau Province. It consists of 80 active fields with 11,300 wells and 35 gathering stations. The Rokan Zone produces one-quarter of the national crude oil or one-third of Pertamina’s production.
In addition to producing oil and gas for the state, PHR manages social and environmental responsibility programmes focusing on education, health, community economy, and the environment.
