PHR increases production capacity with new water injection pumps
PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is increasing its production capacity through new water injection pump facilities at the Pematang and Pungut Gathering Stations (GS) within the Rokan Working Area, also known as the Rokan Zone.
Agus Harlianto, Operation Head of Project & Technical Engineering at PHR, stated that this facility is part of the ‘Rokan Well Development’ Pematang GS Upgrade programme. One of the key scopes of this project is to increase water injection capacity in the Pematang area by 2 x 40,000 barrels of water per day (BWPD).
“With the operation of the ‘New WIP Pematang GS’, it is expected that the capacity and reliability of the Pematang GS production facilities will increase, thereby reducing Loss Production Opportunity (LPO) in the Pematang Field,” he said in a statement received in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Monday.
In addition to the WIP, other supporting facilities have also been completed, including the ‘Pungut GS Upgrade’ project and the ‘New Gas Boot’ project in Pematang. The completion of these projects will optimise operational processes with a larger capacity for processing production fluid and water injection.
He added that increasing facility capacity is a vital part of the efforts to maintain operational sustainability and to optimise the existing potential within the Rokan Zone. Reliable production infrastructure supports the management of production processes and serves as a foundation for sustainable field development.
The successful completion of the projects in Pematang and Pungut also demonstrates the importance of cross-party collaboration in executing strategic projects. Such synergy is essential for completing various other production capacity enhancement projects currently underway in the ‘Sumatera Light North’ area in particular, and the Rokan Zone in general.
The spirit of “Expanding Capacity for a Stronger Future” serves as a reminder that energy sustainability is built through collective work, innovation, facility reliability, and consistency in optimising existing potential.
“This step is expected to continue contributing to the sustainability of oil production while supporting efforts to strengthen national energy security,” he concluded.
