Photo exhibit looks at life of Yogya

YOGYAKARTA: Dozens of local photographers will take part in a
weeklong photo exhibition on the fourth floor of the Gramedia
book store building on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman from July 25 to July
31.

The exhibition will be titled Yogyakartaku Kampungku (My
Yogyakarta, My Village).

Bantul Regent Idham Samawi is scheduled to open the
exhibition, which will present as many as 44 photos depicting the
lives of the people of Yogyakarta, in both urban and
rural areas.

Effy WP of the exhibition's organizing committees said the
photos were aimed at providing a picture of the lives of the
people of Yogyakarta from the past up to the present.

"Participants were selected according to their interest in and
concern for Yogyakarta, as displayed through their photographs,"
said Effy, adding that the participants included professional
photographers, students, lecturers and cultural experts. --JP
