Photo contest nominees displayed

JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja is scheduled to open
an exhibition of over 150 photos nominated in the Kenduri
Nasional '95 photo competition on Nov. 12.

The pictures were selected from over 500 submitted to the
competition, which was organized by Jakprom, an executive of the
promotion body, Sila, told The Jakarta Post yesterday.

The pictures were all snapped during the Kenduri Nasional
festival on Aug. 19 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of
Indonesia and the 468th anniversary of Jakarta.

More than a million people attended the evening festival and
the photos captured almost all of the ceremonial activities,
including a 15-minute fireworks display.

Sila said the pictures will be displayed for five days through
Nov. 16 at the Taman Ismail Marzuki art park.

A similar event will be held at the Atrium Senen plaza from
Nov. 10 to 17. (bsr)
